Activated Designs suggests that residential interior designers everywhere - mayhap regular people, too - have been "burdened" for years with the near impossible task of designing a beautiful bedroom with a TV in it. You know, that ostentatious slab of Letterman-ready technology that refuses to match the throw pillows.
Being in the motorized TV mounting and concealing business, Activated Designs has just released a new robo-bracket that can store a up to 120 pounds (54 Kg) of TV under the bed, utilizing the otherwise unused space there under - save maybe the Rubbermaid full of wrapping paper and the cat. At the push of a button, Activated claims, the TV silently slides out from the foot of the bed and rises up to the perfect viewing position.
Available in two models, the UBL-70 boasts a 70 pound (32Kg) capacity while a heavy duty model, the UBL-120, has a 120 pound capacity. Both units require 9 inches of clearance off the floor.
Activated Designs states that the units ship fully assembled and typically install in less than 30 minutes. A motorized, 180-degree swivel option can be added to either model, and each includes a choice of remote controllers as RF (radio frequency), IR (infrared), LV (low voltage) or RS232 (a computer standard).
As common-man cool (and decoratively discreet) as they sound, UBLs don't come cheap. The MSRP of the base model UBL-70 is $11,329.00. Add the swivel and you've got the UBL-70-S at $13,852.00; the UBL-120 lists for $14,501.00 and the UBL-120-S for a thrifty $17,834.00.
