The recently announced Samsung i8520 Beam is a forthcoming Android smartphone with a host of expected features, including "improved" Google Maps, a large, 3.7-inch Super AMOLED screen, an 8-megapixel camera with video, GPS functionality and 16GB of internal storage.
All told, that makes for a very capable-sounding smartphone.
But what's set to set the Samsung Beam apart from all other Android smartphones is its built-in DLP Pico, a 6 lumen image projector housed within its thin enclosure.
Though 6 lumens is not even close to what one might called "bright," it does mean that Beam owners will be able to beam video, photos and presentations onto a flat surface for all to see... probably dimly, anyway.
Samsung’s i8520 Beam is slated for release in Asia and Europe this summer. A North American release is expected to follow, though no date has been announced.
