Ubisoft just announced that it will develop and publish a Nintendo DS videogame based on the successful Allen Carr book, Easyway to Stop Smoking. No, seriously.

Reportedly, over 10 million smokers worldwide have already turned to Allen Carr’s Easyway books, clinics or DVDs in order to stop smoking with a method that removes the smoker’s belief that smoking provides them with any genuine pleasure or crutch, takes away the feeling of deprivation and therefore rids the smoker of the fear of stopping.

Ubisoft asserts that Allen Carr's Easyway method on Nintendo DS will offer "a whole new dimension" on "an exciting interactive platform" by allowing players to actively participate in the game's content by inputting the details of their smoking habits. Even more exciting than that, according to Ubisoft, players can also "select their own Allen Carr's Easyway coach to take them through the process of quitting."

The Easyway to Stop Smoking clinics, which cost $425 for group seminars and $2500 for a series of one-on-one, in-home sessions, offer a full money-back guarantee. The success rate after 3 months is over 90% while independent studies reportedly confirm a success rate of over 50% after 12 months.

No word on money-back guarantees for the DS version, but it's only expected to cost about as much as three or four packs of smokes in the first place.
