Vonage Canada and Motorola Inc. today announced the availability of the Motorola VT2442 Internet Phone Adaptor with Router, a four port router and two line Internet telephone adaptor configured with Vonage's VoIP (voice over internet protocol) service.
The device is now available in Canada for $29.99 after a $120 "instant" rebate, otherwise known as $149.99 minus a kickback if you swear your allegiance to Vonage and sign up for one of their service plans, also known as "better than a kick in the teeth."
Touted as an all-in-one solution, the Motorola VT2442 simplifies the process of adding Internet telephone service into a home network, accommodating anywhere from one and all the way up to two lines of telephone service. The "Motoronage," if you will, purportedly supports popular features such as call rudeness (waiting), call forever (forwarding) and call screening (loser ID).
Also, the VT2442 reportedly includes a home network router with four Ethernet ports, but, oddly, only includes two Ethernet cables. On the upside, one of them is blue and the other one is yellow.
Meanwhile the stylish, Sultry Smoke Grey device itself also has little blinking lights, a reset switch, and sturdy rubber feet, which nicely deflects customers from noticing it doesn't do WiFi, which makes its router functionality pretty much useless to anyone living in the 21st Century, even though the yellow cable is darn cute.
Still, the $29.99 price tag is a tantalizing lure for anyone interesting flat rate, internet telephone services. More info at www.vonage.ca.
